Alan Pardew has spoken to the ‘Shields Gazette’ about the future of midfielder Yohan Cabaye and has been unable to assure fans that the player will still be at the club come the end of the transfer window, but reveals that there have been no offers as yet:
“The speculation about Cabaye, is right. He’s a top player and I wouldn’t expect anything else. It’s good for his confidence.”
“Of course I want to keep him. If one of the big clubs comes with a massive offer, we’ll have to react to that. As it stands at the moment, there have still been no offers.”
“He remains our player, and myself and the fans would love to see him stay come September 2 and still be in a black and white shirt.”
“He’s not caused me one problem, and he’s worked really hard. His professionalism has been brilliant, and our fans need to know that.”
PSG manager Laurent Blanc has repeatedly admitted his desire to sign the player. L’Equipe report this morning that Cabaye is PSG’s main midfield target. A bid does not look far away. Will Newcastle be able to keep hold of their man? We shall have to wait and see.
