As the Florian Thauvin saga continues, we give the details about what exactly is going on as we enter the final straight of this transfer window:
We, Football News, can confirm that Lille have rejected two bids from Marseille for the player in the past month. We also understand that after realising that the situation is now beyond repair, Lille approached Marseille last week to offer the player, but the €15 million price tag remains two high as Marseille currently only have €10 million to spend. Marseille are therefore looking to move players on so that they can sign Thauvin and want to sell, not loan, Morgan Amalfitano and possibly Jordan Ayew if need be.
As RMC have reported, Thauvin is Marseille’s priority and coach Elie Baup has even told Thauvin this personally. The French U20 World Cup winner also wants a move to Marseille as they can offer Champions League football and he feels that it is too early to move abroad. As reported throughout the Summer, Thauvin is trying to force a move away from Lille and is now refusing to turn up to training.
We, Football News, also understand that Roma made contact over the player to see if Thauvin would be interested in linking up with Rudi Garcia, who was manager for Lille when he signed, but the player rejected that possibility straight away
So, to clarify, Florian Thauvin’s only wish is Marseille and if they can muster up €15 million euros, subject to a medical, they will sign the player.
