Lyon President Jean Michel Aulas has dismissed speculation linking Clement Grenier to Arsenal.
The club’s President had the following to say: “I spoke a lot with Arsene Wenger at the World Cup. Arsenal is not an envisaged destination of Grenier.”
Football News exclusively revealed this week that Newcastle United had a bid turned down for the central midfielder for an unidentified amount that was judged to be too low by Lyon but also insufficient for Clement Grenier, who wants a club with realistic chances of European football in the coming years, according to a source close to the player. Newcastle retain their long-term interest in the player.
Contrary to wayward and inaccurate reports circulating today that Clement Grenier is available for between €8m and €10m, Football News can confirm that Lyon will not sell Clement Grenier for anything less than €15m, and that the club is not actively seeking to sell the player at all.
Clement Grenier has asked for the club to negotiate with teams should an offer from a side that the midfielder may want to join come in. That is as far as the situation has gone and anything else is inaccurate.
The player is in talks with AC Milan over a possible transfer, but the Serie A side has yet to make a concrete offer.
