Football News have obtained confirmation of the France starting XI against Nigeria in their last 16 clash, the same team that L’Equipe have reported will take the field. Les Bleus will line up as follows:
Lloris – Debuchy, Varane, Koscielny, Evra – Pogba, Matuidi, Cabaye – Valbuena, Giroud, Benzema
It was earlier rumoured that Antoine Griezmann would be picked ahead of Giroud by Deschamps, to allow Benzema to play down the middle, but in fact Deschamps has decided to go with Giroud and start with Benzema on the left.
At the back, Mamadou Sakho misses out with a hamstring injury, so Arsenal’s Laurent Koscielny steps in to take his place. Patrice Evra and Mathieu Debuchy are preferred to Lucas Digne and Bacary Sagne respectively. In midfield, Paul Pogba is chosen over Newcastle’s Moussa Sissoko.
