Football News now understands that Rennes and Auxerre have agreed the transfer of Paul Georges Ntep this evening.
After a move had initially broke down despite an offer of around €6m having been accepted by Auxerre, the player decided to turn the club down because of wages.
Reassuring discussions between Paul Georges Ntep and Philippe Montanier took place yesterday and the player was this afternoon in contract talks. We await to hear the outcome, but we should have an answer by the end of the day. The player has now agreed to sign for the club.
The same bid that was accepted earlier this window has been reprocessed. Ntep must agree personal terms still, but could do so tonight. Huge improvements.
Meanwhile QPR at the time of writing had yet to make a 3rd offer. They have seen offers of €3m and €4.5m rejected this window. Paul Georges Ntep had agreed a provisional contract with the Championship side which would have seen him earn close to €100k a month.
The only thing that can prevent a Rennes move for Ntep is a failed medical or a huge bid at the eleventh hour from a rival.
