Football News reports that Marcel Tisserand would join RC Lens on loan from AS Monaco were officially confirmed today by both clubs. The defender, who plays at centre back but is also competent at full back, switches from a Monaco team where he couldn’t get significant playing time to Ligue 2 high-fliers Lens, who are currently sitting 3rd and looking for automatic promotion.
But what will Tisserand bring to Lens, and how can he help in their charge for promotion? Well, being a very raw talent, he certainly cannot bring much experience. However, he is very highly rated at Monaco, and he has the potential to be a top defender.
If he can begin to unlock that potential with Lens, they could have a very important player on their hands, who will solidify their defence and provide the enthusiasm that comes with a young player starting games for the first time. In many ways, it is a kind of gamble from Lens, but the odds are stacked in their favour for it paying off.
