Mlactu understand that there is no contact between Remy Cabella or Montpellier and Newcastle for a possible move for the player. A claim that Football News can confirm after receiving multiple versions of the story.
The Telegraph and the Daily Mail claimed that Newcastle had contacted Montpellier for the attacking midfielder Remi Cabella but at this stage there have been no discussions at all.
The British press is insistent that the player is interesting Newcastle and there is no evidence to suggest otherwise.
Montpellier will not sell for any less than €16m but need Cabella to ensure their Ligue 1 status in this second half of this season. Any attempt to sign the player this month will be made extremely difficult by President Nicollin who has a reputation of slowing talks down in an attempt to keep the player in question longer.
Another reported Newcastle target, Bafétimbi Gomis, has been in contact with multiple clubs in the last days and Football News understands that a move this month is becoming more and more likely. Unfortunately, at this early stage, no further clarification is available.
Gomis missed training today with Lyon because of ‘a bad back’.
