Football News takes a look at the papers ahead of PSG’s mammoth encounter with Barcelona in the Champions League this evening.
L’Equipe announce that PSG’s game against Barcelona this evening has the ability to “plunge the club into crisis or kickstart their season”. They also suggest that there is a very big possibility that Barcelona are currently the form team of Europe at present, pressing harder, having more chances, and being more efficient in front of goal under Luis Enrique. They believe that Laurent Blanc will opt for the 4-3-3 formation, especially after the apparent failure of the 4-4-2 against Toulouse (1-1 last weekend), with an attacking trident of Lucas, Pastore and Cavani. Jay Z, Beyoncé and David Beckham will be in amongst the VIP box tonight.
Le Parisien paint an even duller picture for any PSG hopefuls: “You have to be crazy, a Utopian or absent from France for several weeks to think that PSG have a chance against Barcelona this evening at the Parc des Princes.” The Paris based publication claims that without Ibrahimovic, they lack an attacking solution. They also announce that Nasser Al Khelaifi is expected to speak to the players before the match.
As for the AFP, their verdict is just as damming: “Physically, PSG are not in a good way. Technically, PSG are worse. Tactically, PSG are lost.”
