Football News has been informed by local sources that SC Bastia are actively pursuing the possibility of signing of former OGC Nice defender Renato Civelli from Turkish side Bursaspor.
The player wants to return to Ligue 1, but the Corsican side need to free up the necessary wages. They want striker Djibril Cissé to mutually terminate his contract with the club in order to free up the necessary funds.
SC Bastia have in the meantime had an offer for Brandao accepted by St Étienne. The Corsican club have agreed to pay a minimal, compensatory fee as the now French national looks to terminate his adventure with Les Verts so that they can bring in free agent Guillaume Hoarau.
Brandao has been offered a two year contract by SC Bastia with a serious wage cut. The player has yet to decide whether or not to accept the offer at the time of writing.
Some unconfirmed reports emerged this evening that the player may even seek to return to negotiate with Sheffield Wednesday in England, where talks earlier broke down due to a failure to agree contractual details between the relevant parties. This is merely conjecture at present.
Brandao has been given until the middle of the week by SC Bastia.
