Swansea manager Gary Monk has once again spoken out on the future of Bafetimbi Gomis, after the player went on French TV and announced that promises had been broken by his manager at the Welsh side.
Monk had the following to say:
“I know the comments you want to talk about and I have spoken to Bafe about them, although that conversation stays between us. The way I look at it is that it’s nothing new. This is the way football is nowadays. Players now are more outspoken than they used to be. They have a lot more power than ever before.”
“I understand he has been frustrated. He is not a young player, he has pedigree and he has performed throughout his career. But I definitely don’t see an unhappy player on the training ground. Every day he gets on with his job, he trains with a smile and he is pleasure to be with. I like working with him. I have chatted to him about the situation, how the things he said might be perceived inside and outside the club, and he understood that. Now I want him to focus on doing well for Swansea City in what is an important period for the club.”
