According to today’s edition of L’Équipe, Barcelona are targeting the signing of an extra striker this summer to act as back-up for any of MSN (Messi, Suarez and Neymar) should one of the trio get injured.
The French daily reports that Lyon striker Lacazette is Barcelona’s preferred target. FCB scouts have watched the player extensively this season, as well as central defender Samuel Umtiti.
It seems unlikely however that Alexandre Lacazette will be convinced by Barcelona to join them for the sole purpose of becoming a club benchwarmer.
Lacazette’s camp are still angling for a move to the Premier League this summer, with Tottenham Hotspur very interested. West Ham United are understood to have been in active talks for the player in recent days too.
Although Barcelona have yet to have any meaningful contact with Lyon for Lacazette, this potential opportunity for the French international is one that he will certainly take seriously.
