According to our colleagues at Sud Ouest, Bordeaux have yet to receive a concrete offer from Premier League side Aston Villa for the services of Lamine Sané.
While there have been positive talks between the player’s agent and Aston Villa, that is only as far as it has gone.
Bordeaux President Jean Louis Triaud confirmed that he has yet to receive an offer for the player while manager Willy Sagnol commented that it “would be great for everyone involved if this became more concrete. It is true that he really wants to leave and if that is the case [that Aston Villa want to sign him] then it would be positive for everyone.”
Aston Villa’s inability to make an offer makes the situation more difficult in terms of determining whether this would be a loan or a transfer. Bordeaux want to sell the player outright, because a loan deal does not create financial stability for them.
Sané is more interested in a loan because he does not want to join a club that could be playing Championship football next season if he does not have to, unless of course, Villa remain up, hence why there would be a buy clause inserted into any loan deal.
These are the negotiating positions of the relevant parties, but the situation has not even got that far yet.
