36-year-old Mickael Tacalfred signs new deal with Auxerre

Mickael Tacalfred has extended his contract with AJ Auxerre following his successful first season at the club when he joined back in the summer of 2016.

Joining from Reims, the experienced 36-year-old played 36 games in all competitions including 33 in Ligue 2 and three in the Coupe de France.

Alongside fellow defender Lionel Mathis, Tacalfred was a huge factor in Auxerre’s defensive record, which saw them finish the season as the joint 4th best defence in Ligue 2.

In the twilight of his career, Tacalfred will want to keep playing for as long as possible, adding to his already impressive tally of over 450 professional games and help Auxerre build on their disappointing 17th placed finish last season.
