21-year-old highly-coveted Le Havre left-back Ferland Mendy has reached an agreement in principle to join Ligue 1 side Bordeaux, according to L’Équipe.
Mendy, who is soliciting high-levels of interest from Lille and Lyon. FCGB manager Jocelyn Gourvennec is regularly exchanging with the player over the phone, according to the report.
If Bordeaux are not able to sign Ferland Mendy, their Plan B is Corinthians full-back and 20-year-old Guilherme Arana, who is under contract with the Brazilian side until 2019. The price that Corinthians are demanding, €10m, is currently putting of Gourvennec’s side.
Bordeaux have floated the idea of including central defender Pablo, who is currently on loan with São Paulo, in a deal for Arana.
On the right-hand side of defence, following the appointment of Sporting Director Antero Henrique, Bordeaux have entered into talks with PSG over the possible re-signing of Youssouf Sabaly, who spent the 2016/17 campaign on loan with Les Girondins.
