Kylian Mbappé joins PSG on loan

Ligue 1 star Kylian Mbappé joins PSG on a season-long loan with an option to buy worth €145m plus €35m in bonuses, which is activated if the club does not get relegated from Ligue 1.

PSG opted for a loan deal initially to avoid FFP rulings and the player will sign a contract until June 2022.

Mbappé broke onto the scene in unprecedented fashion last term, netting 26 times in 44 appearances across all competitions.

The teenager featured prominently throughout Monaco’s Champions League semi-final run, scoring six times in the knockout stages alone.

The Frenchman represented his country at senior level for the first time, in March, at the age of 18 years and 65 days – making him the youngest to do so since 1955.

Mbappé’s future had been very much up in the air over the course of the summer, with numerous ‘done deals’ and agreements reported.

The striker was a target for the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal – but it is Paris who have secured a deal for arguably the best young player on the planet.
