After his contract with Le Havre expired, defender Steven Fortes has joined Ligue 1 side Toulouse.
The Cape Verde international joined Le Havre in August 2014 from Arles-Avignon, where he would become a key player in the centre of the Le Havre back line.
His impressive performances in that season meant that manager Thierry Goudet named Fortes as his captain for the following season, which only made the defender a better player and indispensable to the club.
In his final season at the club, Fortes guided his back line to the award of best defence in Ligue 2, conceding only 31 goals in 38 games, but his season was unfortunately cut short due to a cruciate ligaments injury in March.
At the age of 25, Fortes is looking to extend onto his 112 appearances in French league football, and his first taste of the top flight could be where he starts to show others his talents.
