Anthony Martial caught up in a war between José Mourinho & Ed Woodward

RMC are reporting tonight that French attacker Anthony Martial has become a chess piece in an ongoing war between Manchester United CEO Ed Woodward and the club’s manager José Mourinho.

Anthony Martial still wants to leave Manchester United, but Ed Woodward, who sees him as a great player for the future, rejected all approaches this summer, including those coming from Atletico Madrid and AC Milan.

But the story does not stop there, Portuguese manager José Mourinho absolutely wants rid of Martial, and tried to broker deals this summer with Chelsea in a swap deal for Willian and Tottenham in a swap deal for Toby Alderweireld.

Mourinho demanded that Woodward sell Martial to raise funds so that he could sign a central defender, but Woodward refused.

United, under Woodward’s direction, have made Martial an enormous 5-year contract extension offer, with a considerable salary, which is currently still being negotiated.

From the player’s perspective, he wants to leave, and was given absolutely no reason as to why he has been left out of United’s team tonight vs Tottenham, with it appearing as if Mourinho is seeking to get his own back on Woodward.

The media outlet also confirms that Tottenham made a bid for Martial this summer.
