Lyon would still let leave Nabil Fékir leave this month, but he is most likely to sign a new deal

L’Équipe report this morning that Ligue 1 side Lyon would still allow French World Cup winner Nabil Fékir to leave this summer if a suitable offer comes in, but admit that the most likely scenario is that the attacking midfielder stays with Les Gones, signs a new deal and is allowed to leave the club again in the following summer.

There one certainty regarding the player’s situation, the newspaper claims, is that Liverpool will not be trying again for Fékir before their window shuts on Thursday, after a deal between the relevant parties broke down in June over fee haggling concerning medical results.

Manchester United, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich have all expressed preliminary interest this summer in signing Fékir, but none of these sides have made concrete steps to signing the player… yet.

If Fékir stays at Lyon this summer, then new contract discussions will occur in September, not necessarily to tie him down long-term to staying with Les Gones, but more to put both the player and his club in a stronger negotiating position for when Europe’s elite come knocking potentially in summer 2019.
