Barcelona have now won the race for Brazilian winger Malcom, less than 24 hours after AS Roma announced an official agreement with Bordeaux to sign the player.
Malcom will join the Catalan giants for a sum worth around €41m and will undergo a medical tomorrow.
Sources at Bordeaux say that it was Malcom’s representatives who asked for a deal with AS Roma to be halted when the Spanish side’s interest became apparent, whereas Italian sources indicate that FCGB were simply playing the market and trying to get the best possible price.
Malcom will earn €5m a year at Barcelona, double what he was set to receive as an AS Roma player, and will sign a 5-year contract with the La Liga champions.
Incredibly, according to Goal France, Bordeaux had a 2nd agreement at 10:00 French time this morning with AS Roma, but the player’s wishes + the more immediately bankable (less instalments) offer from Barcelona, swung the situation in the La Liga side’s favour.
