Bristol City have completed the signing of Saint-Etienne striker Lois Diony on a six-month-loan deal with an option to buy at the end of the season, making him their third signing of the winter window.
Head Coach Lee Johnson told the club’s official website: “Lois is a very interesting signing for us. He boasts a good record in France and I believe he has all the attributes to be a big success for us in the Championship.”
Diony joined Les Verts in the summer from Dijon for £6m, but has failed to score in 17 appearances in both Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France this season.
Speaking to the Bristol club website for the first tie, Diony said that he wanted to “rediscover his smile” following a tough season in France.
“I think this is a good opportunity to show what I can do in this country,” said Diony.
“I want to find my smile because with (Saint-Etienne) I lost it. I want to enjoy my life as a footballer and prove to myself that I can play in England.”
There is an €8m option to buy in the deal.
