Dijon FCO have announced the signing of right-back Mickaël Alphonse on a free transfer.
The 28-year-old has signed a 3-year contract at the Stade Gaston Gérard after ending his previous contract with Ligue 2 side Sochaux, where he was voted “best right-back of Ligue 2” for the last two seasons consecutively.
Known as a buccaneering and pacey full-back, Alphonse has worked his way up through the third and second tiers of French football, including clubs such as Bourg-Péronnas, Moulins and Rouen.
Dijon president Olivier Delcourt predicted that Alphonse should have no issue in adapting to Ligue 1: “Mickaël had two excellent seasons at Sochaux. His profile appealed to us and I am sure he will be successful in Ligue 1. The DFCO is an ideal club to allow him to continue his progression”.
