Real Madrid make concrete move to re-sign Lyon striker Mariano Diaz

Sevilla reached an agreement last night with Lyon to sign Dominican striker Mariano Diaz for a fee between €35m and €40m, according to L’Équipe.

However, Real Madrid appear to have stolen in at the last second, having had a first refusal clause inserted into the deal that they made with Lyon last summer when Mariano Diaz left Los Blancos.

On Tuesday morning, as required by the contract between Lyon and Real Madrid, the former side informed Los Blancos of their agreement with Sevilla.

The newspaper now reports that Real Madrid have decided to activate their right to re-sign Mariano Diaz, but before the deal can become a reality, Lyon are seeking to find a replacement.
