RMC reported earlier this afternoon that Premier League side Arsenal have submitted an opening offer for 18-year-old French youth international defender William Saliba.
Speaking to Football News exclusively, Mohamed Bouhafsi explained that the opening bid is €25m plus €5m in bonuses. Talks continue between the Gunners and St Étienne. A meeting is understood to have occurred at the end of last week between the two clubs and a second meeting is scheduled to occur later this week to continue talks.
Les Verts’ unmovable condition at present is that Saliba returns to them on loan for the 2019/20 campaign.
Whilst talks have opened positively between the two sides, and Saliba has already agreed personal terms with the Gunners over a 5-year contract, AFC have to be weary of Tottenham’s offensive to sign the Frenchman.
Spurs have made contact with St Étienne’s defender in recent days. Nevertheless, Arsenal remain in pole position.
More on Saliba in an exclusive interview given by Mohamed Bouhafsi to Football News to follow in the coming hours.
