Several days ago, PSG manager Thomas Tuchel was reassured that he would be the club’s manager next season – the German knows that he will not have a lot of manoeuvrability in the upcoming transfer window, but he wants to make strategic decisions.
This was evident when he was asked about the possibility of signing Antoine Griezmann in a press conference earlier this week:
“Griezmann could play in any team in the world. He would make all managers happy and all teams happy. But at the moment that is not realistic… We need to create a team. We have areas in which we need players, and that is still defensive players. We need to start with that.”
Ander Herrera’s arrival is imminent and talks are ongoing about bringing Napoli midfielder Allan to the French capital – the Brazilian really wants to make the move and PSG representatives are optimistic about their ability to close a deal, should they want to…
Because, according to L’Équipe but denied by Euro United, PSG are also going after 22-year-old Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele. They have held several meetings with the player’s entourage – the most recent occurring about 10 days ago in Paris. The profile of the French international has the unanimous support of the 3 key decision-makers: Nasser Al-Khelaifi, Thomas Tuchel and Antero Henrique (a rarity).
The recent contacts, which have been very concrete, centre around a possible provisional contract agreement. The demands from a salary perspective of the Lyon man have been made clear to Paris.
PSG have also made contact with Lyon about the sum that they will demand. Jean Michel Aulas is pointing to the Paul Pogba transfer in 2016 as his yardstick (which cost €100m). Les Parisiens are yet to submit a formal bid.
The player is regularly receiving calls from PSG team-mates who are with him in the French national team in an attempt to convince him to join – notably from Kylian Mbappé, who really wants to see Ndombele join the capital club. The midfielder has not made any decisions yet.
If PSG are serious, they will have to continue to accelerate talks in the coming days. Why? Juventus, through Technical Director Fabio Paratici, are in constant contact with Ndombele’s entourage and has made the player a provisional contract offer. Manchester United’s interest in the Frenchman is also well-documented, but they have decided not to move on the player until Paul Pogba’s situation becomes clearer.
Manchester City, who had been silent on this player for a while, have resurfaced their interest in recent days. There is also an underdog in the race: Tottenham Hotspur.
Mauricio Pochettino has given the green light for Spurs to go after the player and have made a provisional contract proposal to the Frenchman which is understood to be more financially significant than anything they have offered anyone for quite some time…
No formal bids yet, this will get going in June… Aulas is ready, are you?
